How Much do You Really Control Your Life?

How much are you going to let your parents dictate what you want to do in life? How many desires are you not chasing because of your parents?

You’re parents will tell you to go college, become a doctor or a lawyer, get a job and settle down. But its like hold on a second. These aren’t your thoughts, this is your life, don’t let someone else dictate it. You might not want to go to university, but want to travel the world or become a writer.

Your parents don’t know that university are not what they used to be, they don’t know that there’s a job to be had outside of the 9–5, they don’t know about BitCoin, they don’t know about Medium.

They grew up up in a different generation, things are different now. Yet they will teach you to follow the same safe and conventional path they followed. That’s the issue!

“See, what we are doing is, we’re bringing up children and educating them to live the same sort of lives we are living — in order that they may justify themselves and find satisfaction in life, by bringing up their children, to bring up “their” children, to do the same thing. So, it’s all retch and no vomit — it never gets there. Therefore, it’s so important to consider this question… “What do I desire?” “ -Alan Watts

If you have a desire, Follow it!

This is your one and only life. Make it one to remember. Do the things you want to do, not what your parents or anyone else wants you to do. Be skeptical. Be selfish. And be ruthless.

As they say; “where there’s a will there’s a way.”
